We offer instruction for first-time and experienced archers, for traditional and compound bows. Bows and arrows are provided during lessons, and we can also make any adjustments or recommendations if archers have their own equipment.
Lessons are available in ½ hour increments or 1-hour increments and can be purchased one at a time or buy 5 at once and get the 6th free.
Purchase your lessons online here and completely fill out the class form. Once the online purchase has been completed, your information will be forwarded to the coordinator. An instructor will reach out in the next 1-5 Business Days. We will work with you and determine the best time slot and type of instructor suited for your needs and goals.
We have a youth group lesson at 6:00pm on Thursday nights for those under the age of 18. These lessons are for those who have some experience in archery and/or have taken at least a few one on one lessons with one of our instructors. Students are encouraged to bring their own equipment, however, we do have rental bows available for use for the first few visits but will want to eventually get students into their own bow that they can rely on to be consistent and properly setup for them. There are a limited number of rental bows available so if there are many students, sharing may be required. Lessons will be $15 a night.
Whether you bought your bow from us or not, you will benefit from our experienced staff and their knowledge of archery fundamentals. This expertise includes bow assembly, sight installation, rest installation, paper tuning, matching the perfect arrow to the bow package, and of course, broadhead tuning.
We stock arrows from Easton, Gold Tip, Black Eagle, Victory and Carbon Express. We have arrows ready to go out to the door the same day, and we can custom build your arrows to any specification you would like, including services like weight sorting and spine alignment. Whether for hunting or competitive shooting, we have the experience to pair you with the arrows that best match your setup and goals in the field or on the range.

Root River Archery has some of the best shooting spaces in the area. Our 20-yard indoor range is perfect for honing your skills during any season. Our 60-yard outdoor range has loads of targets including large square bales and 3D targets. Both of our ranges are used for training, lessons, bow maintenance and can be rented out for private parties.

We have a great park-like setting for our 60-Yard Outdoor Range that is 100 Feet Wide with Picnic Tables, Practical Bow Hangers and Firing Line Markings. The range is available to Compound/Recurve archers and is typically set up with both 4'x4' target bales at 10 Yard increments, as well as a variety of Rinehart 3D Targets available throughout the summer and fall. For those Crossbow archers, there is a target bale designed for most available crossbows.
Our Indoor Ranges are two-fold: First is a standard 20-Yard Range that has TV Monitors at the 20 Yard Line for those that want to see every shot count down range. The 20-Yard Range also has a crossbow target rated for 650FPS. The 2nd Indoor Range is a 10-Yard Range that is set up for lessons, Paper-Tuning, Chronographing your arrow speed, as well as testing out a new bow.
